“From Fundamental Science to Business” Lecture by Professor David Avnir

As part of his presentation, Dr. Avnir will talk about the history of Sol-Gel Technologies that was started with a new method of material synthesis, developed by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Currently the company exports a range of biomaterials around the world.

“Fundamental science is a source of break-through ideas and new concepts. Only some of them can be implemented and will become useful in various aspects of society, from healthcare to electronics to communications and transport,” he said.

Dr. Avnir is currently a professor of Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a member of European Academy.  He is the author of over 300 publications and has an h-index of 65.
