Description
"Winter Evening of Light" is a symbolic farewell to winter. On the last Saturday in February, lights will go up simultaneously at five residences: in Tsarskoe Selo in Russia, "Lazienki Park" in Warsaw, Park Prince Pückler in German Bad Muskau, the estate of Prince Gong in Beijing and the castle in Lunéville (France), as well as Frederiksborg Palace in Denmark.
The project was born in Warsaw in 2013. Tsarskoe Selo joined it in 2014. This year, the illumination design of the Catherine's Park is done by ITMO University's Lighting Design School.
The event will kick off at the park's main entrance, by the Lyceum Arch, where guests will be met by tour guides. The facade of the Catherine's Palace will be painted with light and figures of ladies and gentlemen will come alive on the surfaces of the sculptures' protective boxes. A illusion of a XVIII-century ship will float over the Mirror Ponds. At the Hermitage Pavilion, guests will become witnesses to a gala ball. Hot drinks and a food court will be available.
