Previously METANANO Conference was held in various places out of Russia under the guidance of Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics (MIFP). Alexey Kavokin, MIFP`s founder, supported the offer of the Chair of Nanophotonics and Metameterials, which had received a grant by Russian Science Foundation, to organize this event.
“The Conference will include two tracks. The first one will be centered around nanophotonics and metamaterials. The second one will fuse together scientists who research and develop functional nanomaterials,” said Ivan Yorsh, Executive Committee`s chairman.
Participants of the Conference will visit lectures by leading world`s researchers. For instance, Olle Eriksson, Professor at Uppsala University, Sweden, whose papers on physics are one of the most-cited research works in the world, will talk about discoveries in functional nanomaterials. Mario G. Silveirinha, Associate Professor at University of Coimbra, a leading scientist focusing on metamaterials, will present topological peculiarities of modern materials. Pavlos Lagoudakis, who works at University of Southampton, will share applications of exiton-polaritons. Anwar Zahid, researcher at the University of Texas in Dallas, will talk about carbon nanotubes. The organizers of the Conference also invited experienced speakers from Russia such as representatives of Russian Quantum Center, Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk State Technical University and other large technical institutions. Participating in the Conference ITMO University experts plan to present achievements in the field of dielectric nanophotonics, hyperbolic metamaterials and topological insulators.
The number of participants is not limited because organizers plan to host all researchers who want to present their papers. One can submit an application until May 6 and apply for invitation letter until June 30 2016.
