  The first people international students often come in contact with are their Russian language teachers who help them take their first steps in their new country and give them the tools to navigate the language and culture as they settle in. ITMO offers a Russian foundation course for those who want to later enrol in an all-Russian program, as well as Russian language courses to support students through their degrees. • Russian Visas, Language Classes and Studying Abroad: Navigating ITMO’s International Office

  Located in the historical part of ITMO University’s Lomonosova St. campus, the International Office is an awesome hub for all things international. With over 250 administrative, research and teaching staff and over 20 departments and labs, the Institute of International Development and Partnership, headed by Daria Kozlova, has become a huge part of the university’s machinery. There are lecturers, researchers, translators, and support staff for students and faculty, all striving to help the university make its international students and staff feel truly at home.

• Faster, Bigger, Livelier – Notes From the 16th Bike Ride With the Rector

  The first in this academic year, but 16th overall – yesterday’s traditional Bike Ride with the Rector coincided luckily with the last day of a short Indian summer. The event brought together dozens of students, lecturers, and staff of ITMO University. Together, they traveled the customary route through Primorsky Victory Park and over Yakhtenny Bridge. • ITMO Scientists Discover Universal Measure to Predict Protein Folding

  Researchers from ITMO’s Infochemistry Scientific Center have suggested an algorithm that can calculate a molecule’s dimensionality – whether it’s 2D, 3D, or an intermediate state. Unlike other existing methods, the new one allows scientists to identify the folding state in biomolecules and track its progress. In an article published in Royal Society Open Science, the researchers described their molecular dynamics-based method and compared it to others, such as the Monte Carlo simulation and the widely used AlphaFold algorithm.
