The startup Cerevrum Inc is creating a new standard for education using virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Major companies and corporations these days are becoming increasingly interested in staff training and boosting their sales. Cerevrum’s products allow businesses to not only hone their employees’ skills, but also see the results reflected in their revenue data. In 2016, Facebook invested one million dollars in the company, and today Cerevrum works with some of Russia’s biggest businesses. ITMO.NEWS spoke with its founder Natalia Floksi to learn what made her project so unique.

Let Your Imagination Run Wild at this Tech Search-and-Rescue Solutions Contest
Every year, thousands of people get lost in the wild. It takes a hundred of rescuers to find one missing person. Forests prove to be the most complex environment for life brigades, who need state-of-the-art equipment and devices to be able to address tough search conditions. Last week, ITMO University gave the floor to the representatives of the ‘Sistema’ charity fund, who unveiled the public program of the ‘Odyssey’, the first research project in Russia aimed at using tech for dealing with social problems. The ‘Odyssey’ is a series of contests, the first of which is dedicated to new-generation search and rescue technologies and will span 18 months with the prize pool of 75 million roubles. Participants are set the challenge of finding an ideal tech-based solution to ease the search of people lost in the woods.

HACKATHON 2025: Innovations for Cities of the Future
In May of 2017, Russia nominated Yekaterinburg as the site for Expo 2025. In preparation for the event, the city will construct the futuristic Smart City, which will continue to function after the expo ends. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for people all over the world using innovative solutions. To implement the most daring and cutting-edge ideas, as well as to attract talented developers and creatives to Yekaterinburg’s city of the future, the application committee organized the HACKATHON 2025. ITMO University was one of the three venues that hosted the event. ITMO.NEWS presents the hackathon’s winners.
