From Equatorial Guinea to Russia
Bernardino Ondo Abaga Ada and Juan Zacarías Okue Ondo Mbang, two international students in their third year of studies at the Faculty of Technological Management and Innovation, came to study in St. Petersburg four years ago from Equatorial Guinea. In an interview with ITMO.NEWS they told us about how they took preparatory courses and learned Russian, how they entered the bachelor's program and some of the peculiarities of studying in Russia.

Internships in Belgium: How to Apply and What to Expect
Elena Eremeeva and Daniil Ilatovskiy are Master's students at ITMO's SCAMT laboratory who have recently completed internships at universities in Belgium. They had an opportunity to use new equipment there as well as become acquainted with how research work is conducted in Europe. This experience will help them to better organize their research and improve the operation of the entire SCAMT (Solution Chemistry of Advanced Materials and Technologies) Laboratory. The students were able to take part in the internships thanks to academic mobility competitions organized by the university.

Seldon the Robot Takes Second Place at RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2017
Fiery-haired robot Seldon, our own YouTube sensation, took home a silver at the RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2017 international competition in Thailand. In the “On Stage” category he took second place among young robot developers. Other Russian teams were also successful during the competition. A team from Ekaterinburg took first place in one of the categories, and 5 teams from Tomsk Oblast were also among the winners.

ITMO’s Master's Students Share Experiences from Ireland Internship
Yulia Andreeva and Elizaveta Anastasova, Master’s students from ITMO’s Department of Food Microingredients Processing and researchers at the SCAMT International Laboratory, have recently returned from their two-month internship at Trinity College (Ireland). New U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman Visits ITMO
On his first official visit to St. Petersburg since his appointment to the position in October, Ambassador Huntsman set time aside to visit ITMO University. The visit took place on 29th November 2017; the Ambassador met the University’s administration and students to consult about future collaborations.

New "Get Local" International Students Club
ITMO University has recently launched a new international student club called "Get Local". This club is geared towards English-speaking international students from around the world, particularly those participating in exchange programs and english-language Master’s programs. The working language of the club is English and it will complement the existing International Students Council where most of the international students are from Russian-speaking countries, and therefore the working language is Russian.

RACIRI-2017 Summer School in Sweden
The RACIRI-2017 Summer School took place in Ronneby, Sweden this year from 19 to 26 August. The topic of the school was “Best X-Ray and Neutron Sources in the World”. ITMO University was represented on the international science scene by Nikita Prasolov, a PhD student from the Department of Modern Functional Materials.
