• From 2K Applications to 29 Projects: ITMO and Alfa-Bank Hold AI Course for Educators

  ITMO and Alfa-Bank have recently had the second launch of their online professional development course for university lecturers who would like to master AI technologies, learn to apply them in the classroom, and develop their own AI-assisted projects. 161 people from over 30 cities in Russia completed the course.

• ITMO Launches Second Season of Scientific St. Petersburg Project

  ITMO’s Center for Science Communication has announced the start of the second season of the Scientific St. Petersburg project. Before the end of 2025, the team will implement over 13 popular science initiatives, from lectures to media projects and from VR tours to crash courses on AI tools. The experts invite St. Petersburg citizens to look at the role of science in the urban environment under a new perspective and become part of interdisciplinary studies.

• New at ITMO: Educational Module on Sustainability in IT and Construction

  ITMO’s Faculty of Ecotechnologies, in collaboration with the telecom operator Beeline and Research Institute of Sustainable Development in Construction (NIIURS), have launched a new educational module on sustainable development in telecommunications and construction within the Bachelor’s program Ecotechnologies and Sustainable Development. Among the lecturers are experts from the partner companies, while classes are based on real-life cases. Upon completing the module, students will get the chance to intern at corporations and collect data for their graduation papers.

• 155 Teachers in Russia Took AI Course by ITMO and Alfa-Bank

  ITMO University and Alfa-Bank collaborated on a joint continuous professional development course to help teachers master AI and learn how to use innovative technologies in the classroom. The course was taken by 155 people from 52 cities in Russia and the CIS countries.

• Three ITMO Researchers Win Yandex ML Prize

  Recently, the Russian tech giant Yandex announced the results of its annual Yandex ML Prize, an award for researchers who contribute to the development of machine learning and train new talents in the field. This year, 14 researchers were honored with the award, including three from ITMO University. All winners will receive awards ranging from 500,000 to 1 million rubles. • Games for Lectures: Introducing IdenTrack, ITMO’s New Educational Platform

  IdenTrack is a new educational platform that helps students get into research, write scientific papers, present their ideas, and build their individual learning tracks. Unlike conventional online courses, the platform is structured like a game where students experience life-like situations guided by virtual mentors. By now, over 1,000 students have already taken courses on the platform – with over 80% of them completing their tracks. Read on to learn more about the platform and the minds behind it.

• New City, New University: Applications Underway for DVIZH Academic Mobility Program 2024

  Until December 20, second- to fourth-year Bachelor’s students from ITMO University, the Russian Foreign Trade Academy, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, and Tomsk State University can apply for the DVIZH academic mobility program and win a chance to spend a semester at one of Russia’s top universities. • Study to Play: ITMO, VK and MIREA University Launch New Game Design Course

  Starting now, students from ITMO and MIREA – Russian Technological University are able to join a course developed in collaboration with the gaming platform VK Play. The new discipline will cover all the basics of game design: from the assessment of design solutions to the evaluation of performance reviews.
