    In Russia’s first-ever ranking of universities training AI professionals, ITMO has topped the list, along with the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and the Higher School of Economics. The ranking is compiled by the AI Alliance using the methodology recognized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

  • New Academic Mobility Program Between Moscow and St. Petersburg Launched at ITMO

    The agency RAEX Analytics has published its 11th annual ranking of the best Russian universities. For the fifth time in a row, ITMO University is featured among the top 15 of the ranking, this year being 13th on the list. All in all, the agency evaluated 206 out of 704 universities throughout Russia.

  • ‘Universities Must Maintain a Dialogue:’ ITMO First Vice Rector Daria Kozlova at Far-East Session of Priority 2030 Program

    On November 25-26, the city of Khabarovsk played host to the first strategic session of the national program Priority 2030. Participants joined forces to flesh out the next specific steps in the transformation of the Russian Far East’s universities and the development of education in various regions of Russia. Discussions were moderated by rectors of the nation’s top universities, including Daria Kozlova, ITMO University’s First Vice Rector and head of its 2030 Development Strategy.

  • The Art of Managing the University of the Future: A Roundtable on Effective University Governance Held in St. Petersburg

    Recently, the European University at St. Petersburg hosted a roundtable on the topic “By whom and how a modern university should be managed: top-down vs shared governance”. In the course of the discussion, experts and representatives of universities weighed up on the questions of which challenges today’s universities are faced with, whether they should change, and which governance model is the most effective.

  • ITMO University Makes a Debut in THE University Impact Rankings 2019

    The Times Higher Education ranking agency has recently announced the results of its new rankings, THE University Impact Rankings. This initiative’s goal is to capture universities’ impact on society, based on the institutions’ success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. ITMO University made its debut in the rankings in two categories: “Industry, innovation and infrastructure”, and “Sustainable cities and communities”, making it to the global top-100 and top-200, respectively.

  • OPORA RUSSIA: Championing Technological Entrepreneurship

    Universities and development institutions have discussed the latest trends in technological entrepreneurship at the ‘Small Business as a National Project’ forum which took place in Moscow last week. The forum is an annual entrepreneurial gathering organized by ‘OPORA RUSSIA’, a national platform for an effective dialogue between the business community, federal and regional authorities, supervisory boards, and experts. Participants discussed the pressing issues of how to facilitate the development of business skills in school and university students, what knowledge graduates are lacking in from the viewpoint of real economy, and how to upscale successful practices on conducting entrepreneurial education.

  • ScienceMedia-2018: Russian Student Media

    Last week, ITMO University hosted ScienceMedia, the national student media forum, organized in collaboration with the Megabyte student media group. This year, 55 participants from more than 25 cities arrived in St. Petersburg. During the forum, they took part in special workshops, excursions and a contest for the title of the best in their business. The winners told us how the student media are developing, what difficulties they face and why it is important to be part of the media community.
