  • Triumph Again: Russian Students Win Four Gold Medals at International Olympiad in Informatics

    At the recently concluded International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), the Russian team secured four gold medals – repeating last year’s success! Competing under the IOI flag, the team was coached by Andrey Stankevich, the Dean of ITMO’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty, who also trained the teams that secured ITMO’s seven wins at ICPC. This year, IOI brought together over 350 participants from 91 countries, all assembled in Egypt’s Alexandria on September 1-8.

  • International Olympiad in Informatics 2018 Winners: Even If You’re Tired, Don’t Lose Sight of Your Goals

    This September, Russian school students managed to win not one, but four prizes at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in Japan. Two members of the winning team, golden and silver medalists Ramazan Rakhmatullin from Kazan and Mikhail Anoprenko from St. Petersburg, have now enrolled at ITMO University’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty, where they continue their training under the associate professor Andrey Stankevich and dream of one day becoming champions of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest. ITMO.NEWS met the students to find out how to get into programming, why you shouldn’t give up if you haven’t made it to an international competition on your first try, and how being a contestant can come in handy in everyday life.

  • The Future of Programming: IOI Winners Talked about their Challenges and Dreams

    Having won the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) Mikhail Putilin, Nodir Daminov and Stanislav Naumov enrolled in the Information Technologies and Programming Faculty. Without knowing anything about coding they started to obtain this knowledge step by step facing various challenges and dreaming about brilliant careers.
