  • ITMO Scientists Train Neural Networks to Determine Solution Concentration Via Air Bubbles

Researchers from ITMO’s Infochemistry Scientific Center have devised an algorithm that can identify the concentration of water-alcohol solutions based on the shape of air bubbles. These bubbles can arise in liquids due to multiple factors, such as ultrasound. They do not remain stable and their shape can change. The scientists studied air bubbles to prove that they behave differently in solutions with various concentrations, as well as trained a neural network to record these changes and detect a solution’s concentration based on its bubble image. This can potentially help scientists take real-time measurements of the composition and concentration of various industrial raw materials.
