• ITMO Receives RuCode Award for Innovative Approach to IT Training

  The Bachelor’s program Software Engineering by ITMO University has been granted the RuCode Award in the category IT Factory. The award recognizes educational institutions for establishing IT faculties and departments that apply cutting-edge methods to train AI specialists. The judges highly praised the university’s strategy of mass training of highly-qualified professionals, which incorporates industrial partners into all stages of program design and implementation.

• ITMO’s Open-Source Ecosystem Developer Receives Award for Loyalty to Science

  Nikolay Nikitin, the head of research development at the Laboratory for Composite AI of ITMO’s Institute for AI, has recently received the award For Loyalty to Science for the project ITMO OpenSource. This is an open-source ecosystem that makes it possible to create, develop, and use AI-based tools. The project won in the nomination “On the use of AI technologies in research.”

• Laureate of Kolba National Award and Physicist Maria Zhukova on Career in Science, Motivation, and Motherhood

  130,000 scientists in Russia are women – they represent about 39% of all researchers in the country. To encourage women in science and technology, Russia introduced the Kolba National Award. This year’s award went to Maria Zhukova, PhD in physics and mathematics, a leading researcher at ITMO’s Research and Educational Center for Photonics and Optical IT. • Three ITMO Researchers Win Yandex ML Prize

  Recently, the Russian tech giant Yandex announced the results of its annual Yandex ML Prize, an award for researchers who contribute to the development of machine learning and train new talents in the field. This year, 14 researchers were honored with the award, including three from ITMO University. All winners will receive awards ranging from 500,000 to 1 million rubles. • ITMO Highpark Wins Golden Trezzini Award for Architectural Design

  ITMO Highpark, the university’s upcoming world-class research, education, and innovation center, was named the best project of an innovative research and educational cluster by the jury of the international Golden Trezzini Awards. The awards ceremony was held at the Hermitage Theater on November 15.
