• ITMO Teams Up With Charging Systems Manufacturer To Develop Russia’s First Wireless Electric Car Charger

  Scientists from ITMO’s School of Physics and Engineering teamed up with Yablochkov, a technology company producing charging systems for electric vehicles, to create a prototype of the first Russian vehicle charger that is completely wireless. Using the SAE J2954 power transfer standard, this system fits all types of vehicles – from cars and buses to driverless taxis and forklifts. Currently, the prototype can fully charge an electrocar over the course of six hours, but in half a year’s time it will be capable of filling a car battery up to 80% capacity in just an hour.
