  • ITMO-Trained Team Wins Four Medals at International Olympiad in Informatics

    A team of Russian school students won two gold and two silver medals at the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for young programmers. This year, the contest took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and brought together 386 participants from 97 countries. The Russian team was traditionally coached by Andrey Stankevich, the dean of ITMO’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty.

  • New Face in the Orchestra: ITMO Team Presents Violin-Playing Robot at RobotChallenge 2026

    The team of ITMO’s Youth Robotics Lab showcased their most complex robot so far, EMMA, which won over the audience at the international RobotChallenge 2026 in Beijing, China. She doesn’t only play the violin masterfully – but can also tune the instrument herself and play back the melodies she hears. The ITMO team competed with more than 46 teams in the Freestyle category.

    Students from ITMO University took three gold and two silver prizes at the 33rd International Math Competition for University Students (IMC), one of the most prestigious math competitions in the world. In the team ranking, ITMO University is 11th out of 136 universities from 47 countries.

  • ITMO Student Svetlana Trusova Wins Europe Youth Kiteboarding Championship

    Svetlana Trusova, a student of ITMO’s Faculty of Applied Informatics, has won the gold at the recent Formula Kite Youth Women’s European Championship and came second in the international ranking. The competition took place on July 2-5 in Gizzeria, Italy.

  • Students of 54 Universities Join ITMO’s International Math Competition

    463 students from seven countries participated in North Countries Universities Mathematical Competition (NCUMC), a competition that’s been organized by ITMO since 2014.   • NTO Finals at ITMO: Over 400 Participants From 30 Regions in 6 Tracks

    In 2026, ITMO debuted as the host of the finals of the National Technology Olympiad (NTO) in six tracks. Over 400 senior school students from 30 Russian regions, along with Belarus and Kazakhstan, came to participate in the finals. The university organized every part of the competition: provided venues and equipment for each track, developed the tasks, and formed an expert jury with industrial partners, including Yandex, Sberbank, and other companies.   • School Students From St. Petersburg Win FIRST Tech Challenge Italy Championship

    A team of school students trained by ITMO mentors reigned supreme at the international robotics competition FIRST Tech Challenge Italy Championship. The championship welcomed 36 teams from 13 countries. The team will now compete in the final stage – the world robotics championship in the USA.

  • ITMO Named Russia’s Leader by the Number of President and Government Stipend Winners

    The results of the national program “Stipend Holders in Russia: Course for the Future” have been announced. ITMO University not only served as a host for the program’s awards ceremony in the Northwestern Federal District but also led the contest by the number of stipend winners within the district and the country, with 134 of its students achieving excellent results in studies, research, and project activities.

  • ITMO Students Shine at Yandex Cup

    Recently, the final of the international programming tournament Yandex Cup took place in Istanbul. Among its winners were several ITMO students who ended up with monetary prizes of up to 500,000 rubles, as well as the opportunity to go through a simplified employment process at Yandex. In total, the final welcomed 196 participants from 21 countries.

  • Over 100 Participants Join Drone Racing Championship at ITMO

    Marked by the rumble of propellers, 200 kmph speeds, and steep turns, ITMO’s open championship in drone racing brought together more than 100 participants from all over the country. The racers used different types of drones to compete in individual and team categories.
