  • It Starts With a Dream: Making Society More Inclusive for Kids With Disabilities

    Specialists from ITMO University and media artists from the New Media Lab have presented an inclusive audiovisual performance on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. At its core is Neurotafl, a digital tactile-kinesthetic interface designed by the staff of Neuroculture Lab that is intended to develop abstract thinking in children with visual impairments.   • Participants of Russian-Japanese Youth Exchange Discuss Accessibility in St. Petersburg

    Over the course of six days, St. Petersburg welcomed a group of students and volunteers from the Japanese Society for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (JSRPD). In that time, they’ve explored the city, learned what kind of assistance people with disabilities receive in Russia, and familiarized themselves with accessibility-related projects developed by ITMO students. A correspondent for ITMO.NEWS met with some of the program’s participants to find out why St. Petersburg is behind Japan in terms of accessibility, why persons with disabilities find it easier to socialize in Russia, and what makes ITMO reminiscent of Singaporean universities.
