    What is the state’s general strategic approach to the digitization of the Russian economy? How far is St. Petersburg from meeting the standards of a smart city? What online services are already available to citizens? These and other questions were addressed by Olga Patrievskaya, head of the e-Government department of the Government of St. Petersburg, who gave an open lecture on “Digital economy in the Russian Federation” at ITMO University’s Institute of Design & Urban Studies on February 28.

  • Rostelecom’s Project Leader Alisa Korzhenevskaya: We’re Slowly but Surely Digitizing the World Around Us

    Aimed at allowing citizens to receive financial services online thanks to a remote identification mechanism, the Unified Biometric System was launched in Russia several months ago. Alisa Korzhenevskaya, project leader at Russia’s national telecommunications operator Rostelecom, has been monitoring the project since its very beginning. This year, she joins ITMO University to share her extensive experience and insight in a study course titled ‘Systems of Interdepartmental Electronic Interaction’. ITMO.NEWS met with the expert to talk about how to make state services accessible for all citizens, what to expect from biometric systems in years ahead, and which key skills a specialist working in the sphere of state IT should possess.
