It’s the news you’ve been waiting for! ITMO University is glad to announce the launch of its 2022 admissions campaign. The newly-updated admissions website (English-language version coming soon) will make it easier for applicants to make a choice – and there’s a lot to choose from! With 34 Bachelor’s, 90 Master’s, and 53 PhD programs, there is something for everyone.

Master’s in Design and Development of AI

Speaking of admissions – this year’s applicants may be interested in the newly-launched Master’s program at the Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems. Here, students will learn about the development of AI systems and neural networks through a project-based approach.

Collaborating with the university’s high-profile industrial partners during their studies will also allow students to begin investing into their career in advance while acquiring valuable practical experience. Advances in wireless energy

The latest innovation by researchers from ITMO’s Faculty of Physics promises major changes for magnetic-resonance imaging (MRI). Once placed within an MRI unit, the prototype antenna they’ve developed is capable of capturing energy from alternating magnetic fields and wirelessly redirecting it to various scanning modules and add-ons (such as local/surface coils).

This solution can reduce power usage while also making the scanning experience less uncomfortable for patients – a win-win!

PCR-level testing at home

Researchers from ITMO and University of Central Florida have devised a new type of nanomachines that can identify pathogen-specific sequences in DNA and RNA samples. Unlike the now-widespread PCR method, this approach is less costly and doesn’t require lab conditions.
