  • ITMO Student Klim Gavrilov Wins Gold at FIA Motorsport Games in Italy

    Klim Gavrilov, a second-year student of the Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems, is a gold medal-winner of the FIA Motorsport Games. The event, best described as the Olympics of motorsport, took place from October 31 to November 3, 2019 at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy. Klim Gavrilov competed – and won – in a racecar adorned with ITMO University’s logo.

  • Expert Mona Khalil on Cross-Cultural Awareness, Communication, and Understanding Cultures Through Food

    Cross-cultural studies expert Mona Abdel Malik Khalil has earned her PhD at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and is the author of numerous scientific articles that focus on culture and communication between Russia and Egypt.   • Surprise Me Founder Alexander Golovatiy: Developing a Company Is Constantly Proving Thousands of Hypotheses

    Around three years ago an ITMO alumnus Alexander Golovatiy and his friends founded a startup that enabled users to sell quests of their own creation. Over the years, the project has grown into an online platform where travelers can purchase walking tours created by locals and experts, and do these tours at their own pace using a mobile app. At the beginning of 2019, the company went international, finding its place in the hearts of American users, and now a Spanish version of the service is getting ready for release. ITMO.NEWS got the chance to meet Alexander and ask him what is needed to go from a startup to a successful business.

  • ITMO University Among Leaders of 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project

    On October 25-26, 2019 the Council on Global Competitiveness Enhancement of Russian Universities (Project 5-100) convened for its 12th session in Moscow. Over the course of two days, universities participating in Project 5-100 presented the results of their work and their development plans for the future. Upon conclusion of the session, the project’s participants were sorted into three groups, ITMO University being ranked among the top 7.

  • Science and Art Come Together at the “New Anthropology” Exposition

    Last fall, “New Anthropology”, a unique project uniting Russian artists and scientists to create technological art, was launched at Pavlov Institute of Physiology. 15 exhibits became the outcome of the project including immersive installation, media- and soundart. Read on to learn more about the idea behind it, the story of the country’s first naukograd (science city) and the significance of the exhibition.
