On November 5-7, prominent researcher and food engineer Prof. Da-Wen Sun will give a series of open lectures on food biotechnology at ITMO University.

Visiting ITMO as part of the Fellowship Program, professor Da-Wen Sun will talk about the latest developments in the field of food engineering.

Professor Da-Wen Sun is an Academician of six academies including Royal Irish Academy, Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe), Polish Academy of Sciences, International Academy of Food Science and Technology, International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, and International Academy of Refrigeration. He is also the Founding President of the International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (iAABE), Honorary President of the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR), and Editor-in-Chief of the Food and Bioprocess Technology Journal.

The schedule for the lectures is as follows:

November 5, from 10am to midday: 

  • Lecture 1. How to Write a Good SCI Research Paper;
  • Lecture 2. Vacuum Cooling Technology for the Agri-Food Industry: Past, Present and Future;

November 6, from 10am to 1pm:

  • Lecture 3. Developments of Novel Freezing Technologies for Improving Frozen Food Quality;
  • Lecture 4. Applications of Computer Vision for Food Quality Evaluation;
  • Lecture 5. Hyperspectral Imaging as a Tool in Food Quality Evaluation;

November 7, from 10am to midday: 

  • Lecture 6. Advanced Applications of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in the Food Industry;
  • Lecture 7. Recent Advances in Food Processing Technologies for Enhancing Efficiency and Quality.

The lectures will be given in English with Russian translation if needed.
