On Saturday, October 28th, it will be the start of the 15th Multivision festival dedicated to the art of animation - a great time for just anyone whose heart is still open to the wondrous world of human fantasy; featuring this year’s best animation shorts from all over the world, Multivision is definitely an event not to be missed!

By the way, this year there’s more to the festival than just animation - the Erarta museum of contemporary art will host the Heroes and Illusions exhibition which is an attempt to examine animation as a form of visual art; amongst the exhibits will be 23 video pieces - finalists of “The Best Video Installation” nomination of the festival’s competition, as well as several non-competition artworks.

Another curious art project - The Right to Things to Come - will open on October 26th at the Museum of 20th and 21st Century St. Petersburg Art. More than 60 artists from Russia, Italy and Greece will share their perception of the phenomena of evolution and revolution, the present and the future of the world we live in; the unique exhibition will feature both traditional art objects like paintings and sculptures as well as installations, novel art objects and video art. Over the course of the following month, the museum will also host various performances, lectures, and screenings dedicated to this ever-relevant topic.

As the end of the month approaches, you can get into the mood for some Halloween-themed fun. Actually, two noteworthy events will already take place this weekend. The Starcon: Halloween will offer a grand quest for its guests in addition to the usual program; and the Obake Family Day at the Museum of Urban Sculpture will invite you to the world of Japanese horror. Also, lots of lesser events will traditionally take place in different St. Petersburg bars.

Lastly, as the end of October marks the end of St. Petersburg’s famous Golden Autumn, you may well take this chance to appreciate the beauty of the city’s many parks and gardens - just don’t forget to dress warm and take some hot drinks in a thermos!
