• Academic Visit to Xinjiang: Technology, Innovation, and China’s Rapid Development

  As a PhD student and member of the staff of the Faculty of Technological Management and Innovations at ITMO, I had the opportunity to participate in an international academic visit to the Xinjiang region of China, from August 10 to 17. The program brought together scholars, researchers, and university representatives from China and different parts of the world, creating an important platform for academic exchange, international cooperation, and the discussion of technological and social development.The visit was organized by the China Center for International Cultural Communication, which invited me to participate as one of the academic experts in the program. My participation was focused on contributing an international academic perspective on technology, innovation, technological management, and regional development.

• CARE-LAB: Boosting International Collaboration While Doing Good

  ITMO University’s European representative office in Brussels, in collaboration with UMons, UPC, Université de Montpellier, KULeuven, and University of Bath, recently co-produced the virtual workshop Facing COVID: CARE-LAB which brought together students from several European countries to design residences for the elderly and build new competencies in the process.

• My Experience of Attending the BioPrint Workshop Remotely

  The year 2020 has been quite unusual. Despite the odds, ITMO University’s Solution Chemistry of Advanced Materials and Technology (SCAMT) Institute had recently organized a workshop on 3D bioprinting called BioPrint and I being placed in a different country had to attend it completely online. But in no way was the workshop unidirectional. All of us got the opportunity to interact with the scientists and ask them questions about their research. I felt I was a part of the event throughout even though physically I was miles away.

• Big science communication story in Russia born from a small networking coincidence

  Alexandra Borissova and Dmitry Malkov share their experience of the Erice International School of Science Journalism organized annually by Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture in Erice, Sicily, Italy and discuss the development of science communication in Russia boosted by their participation in the School back in 2014. Alexandra Borissova is a German Chancellor Fellow and visiting researcher in Science Communication at the University of Rhine-Waal, Germany. Dmitry Malkov is the Director of the Science Communication Centre at ITMO University in Russia.
