Five Continents – One Tournament: BRICS+ CTF Finals Held at ITMO University
Five continents, 105 countries, and 1,257 teams – Russia has recently hosted the online cybersecurity competition BRICS+ CTF. The final round of the contest, co-organized by ITMO University, took place on November 16 and welcomed 20 teams from eight countries. The team Friendly Maltese Citizens (international) finished first, followed by NE_SPRUSH (Russia) and Bushwhackers (Russia).

ITMO Team Reigns Supreme in Russian Infosec Championship
The latest Russian championship in competitive programming welcomed more than 160 teams from across the country, with only 38 making it to the finals. ITMO students secured the first place in the track Programming of Information Security Systems, while the second and third places went to participants from the Republic of Tatarstan and Moscow. The winners split a prize fund of over 1 million rubles.

Russian Teams Win All Awards in BRICS+CTF Tournament
Recently, ITMO hosted the finals of the international CTF cybersecurity tournament that was held under the aegis of the 5th International Municipal BRICS+ Forum. Participants from over 90 countries took part in the tournament, while the winners split the $10,000 prize fund. This year, the best results were achieved by Russian teams.

ITMO Students Win Infosec Contest VolgaCTF
Students from ITMO University were named winners of the 13th annual information security competition VolgaCTF in Samara. The final stage of the competition pitted 23 teams from Russia and neighboring countries. As a result of this victory, the team from ITMO moved up in the ranking to become one of the world’s top three CTF teams in the field of infosec.

ITMO Students Named Best Academic Team at Russian CTF Cup
Last weekend, the Smart City pavilion of Moscow’s VDNKh hosted the final of the Russian national information security championship. The FaKappa team made up of students of ITMO's Faculty of Secure Information Technologies took second place, won the special nomination, and received prizes from Sberbank.

National Cyber Testing Ground: ITMO Team Wins First Intercollegiate Cybersecurity Wargames
The National Cyber Testing Ground is a major national initiative that’s being developed by Rostelecom. In 2021, the telecommunications company and ITMO launched a support center for the initiative as part of the university’s Safety and Security of Critical Information Technologies international research center. And recently, ITMO’s team won the National Cyber Testing Ground’s First Intercollegiate Wargames in Cybersecurity. We talked to Aleksander Menshikov, head of the National Cyber Testing Ground’s training center, and Dmitry Tatarov, the winning team’s captain, to learn about the wargames and how one can join ITMO’s team.
