ITMO Fellow Balamuralithara Balakrishnan on Creativity and Developing Products Using Design Thinking
According to a recent study by LinkedIn, creative thinking is still among the most sought-after skills in business. However, it is no longer enough to “simply” come up with creative ideas – now they have to be developed with ethical norms in mind, as well as benefit the society, economy, and environment. Can we measure creativity? What is design thinking and how can we use it to make truly necessary products? InnoJam "TimeHack": Real Options Theory and Machine Learning
At the recent InnoJam design-thinking session conducted by ITMO University’s Convergent Innovations Center and SAP University Alliances, students had to come up with solutions for organizing the management process of developers at ITSK (Information Technology Service Company), a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft PJSC. InnoJam was conducted as part of activities of SAP Next-Gen Lab, a laboratory of the SAP company that offers students to work on branch-specific tasks and propose solutions for customer entities. In the course of two weeks, its participants developed prototypes of systems for control and distribution of tasks for the Technology Department of ITSK.
