  • Novgorod State University Hosts ITMO.REGIONS Innovation Weekend

    Last weekend, Novgorod State University hosted an intensive workshop on strategy and project management, which was given by ITMO University experts as part of the interregional network program of the ITMO.REGIONS startup school. The event was supported by the University of the National Technology Initiative (NTI) 2035. ITMO specialists provided insight into best practices of creating an efficient ecosystem for supporting innovation entrepreneurship in universities and shared topical how-tos and practical skills with aspiring student entrepreneurs and scientists.

  • New Opportunities: ITMO University Revamps Its Entrepreneurial Activities

    ITMO University is restructuring its Faculty of Technological Management and Innovations. The new faculty will also include the Institute of International Business and Law and two departments of the Faculty of Management and Automation Controls (Academy LIMTU). The new Faculty will cooperate closely with the Project Management and Innovation Department, which will help optimize the university’s portfolio of educational programs in the field of technological management, entrepreneurship and innovations, intensify project work, and give students the opportunity to acquire entrepreneurial competencies as early as in their first year at the university. In an interview for ITMO.NEWS, Nina Yanykina, Head of ITMO’s Project Management and Innovation Department, expanded on these recent changes and the tasks of the university’s new structure.

  • ITMO's Business Incubator Transforms, Will Focus on Acceleration

    On November 30, Vladimir Vasilyev, ITMO’s Rector, announced at the "Ecosystem of Innovations" forum in Sochi that the university’s business incubator is undergoing a serious transformation. ITMO is to close down the incubator in its current form and create a new structure that will focus on the acceleration of projects.

  • Levan Tatunashvili: Focusing On One's Own Resources Only is No Good

    On August 1st, ITMO University and Novosibirsk State University signed a new collaboration agreement for a 5 year term. As part of it, the universities will develop quantum technologies, innovative entrepreneurship, and contribute to the National Technology Initiative and the Digital Economy program.   • ITMO University Expands Partnership in Technology Entrepreneurship with Krasnoyarsk Krai

    Yesterday, on May 31, ITMO University was visited by a delegation headed by Viktor Tolokonsky, governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai. During a meeting with the university’s Rector Vladimir Vasilyev, the parties agreed to the creation of collaborative projects in the field of technology entrepreneurship aimed at systematic development of innovation infrastructure in the region. In June, ITMO University and the Krai administration plan to develop a roadmap for their future relationship.

  • International Experts on Business Incubators and Accelerators in Russia

    What are startup accelerators and business incubators about? Growing a new generation of entrepreneurs? Speeding up startup development? It hasn't been long since they've appeared in Russia, but now a Russian university can't call itself progressive if it has no entrepreneurial environment. Yet, in pursuit of modern tendencies, one must not forget the very point of creating business incubators. Tom Strodtback, Director of European and Asian Partnerships at Global Accelerator Network, and Lynn Robertson, Liverpool Incubator Manager at Santander UK Corporate & Commercial, shared about how incubators help novice entrepreneurs, who invest in startups and their impressions of the entrepreneurial environment in Russia. Tom Strodtback and Lynn Robertson came to Russia to speak at a seminar for heads of business incubators and technoparks, which was hosted by ITMO University on February 6−7.
