ITMO-Developed App Helps RAS Oceanographers Analyze Data from Drifting Buoys Offline
A student from ITMO’s Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems has built an autonomous software tool to help ocean scientists at the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) analyze and visualize data collected by buoys drifting in the ocean. Scientists need no programming to use the app; they can put raw data into the system to obtain a detailed picture of temperature distribution, as well as the velocity and direction of ocean currents. Furthermore, the app requires no internet connection or installed software – and can be conveniently used during expeditions. As of now, there are no existing analogs on the Russian market.
