A Material Simulating Dark Matter Particles Described
A research team from ITMO University has devised a metamaterial that may be used to investigate the properties of axions, also known as dark matter candidates. The paper was co-authored by Frank Wilczek, a laureate of the Nobel Prize in Physics, and published in Physical Review B.

Researchers Propose New Multipolar Lattices for Improved Metasurfaces
Scientists from ITMO University’s Faculty of Physics have predicted a unique type of bound states in the continuum – one that is completely resistant to changes in the system parameters. This would allow researchers to control the resonance properties of metasurfaces and, eventually, to develop more efficient optical and optoelectronic devices of the next generation. The corresponding paper received special recognition from the editors of Physical Review B (Letter) and was published in the section Editor’s Suggestion.

ITMO Researchers Introduce New Method for Magnetization Switching
Scientists Andrew Kudlis, Ivan Shelykh, and Ivan Iorsh from ITMO’s School of Physics and Engineering have proposed an innovative method for ultrafast magnetization switching in layered magnetic structures. The developed technique makes it possible to efficiently control memory cells and break the ground for fully optical methods of recording information in 2D materials. The article detailing the results of the study is published in Physical Review B, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Physical Society.
