    ITMO University’s contest for best practice-oriented student R&D projects concluded in early April with a series of project defenses. Nine winners were selected from 30 presented projects; they will receive funding and support in bureaucratic, organizational, and team management matters.

    ITMO University students developed a compact manipulator arm using polymers, which helped significantly bring down its production costs. At the same time, the new device is just as secure and precise as its existing analogs. The project is headed by Islam Bzhikhatlov, a PhD student at ITMO University, who told ITMO.NEWS about the robot’s potential applications, the tasks it can solve, and the way it stands out from similar products. 


  • ITMO University Scientists Propose Methods of Detecting DoS Attacks on IoT Networks

    The new techniques will help detect hidden attacks that can paralyze automated production, fire safety, or medical monitoring systems. A paper describing the researchers’ findings has been published in the International Journal of Computers and Applications.

    On October 24-25, ITMO University students presented their practice-oriented R&D projects via Zoom. Everyone could join the livestream on ITMO’s YouTube channel.

  • R&D Projects Competition Winners On Their Creations and University Support

    In late March, the results of ITMO’s practice-oriented R&D projects competition were announced. A total of 25 participants presented their ideas with only 10 getting grants from the University. These grants don’t only include financial support, but also help with project paperwork, and team work management. ITMO.NEWS got in touch with the heads of the winning teams to ask them why their projects are special and how they are planning to use the grants.
