  Urwa Khalil’s interest in robotics began not as a fascination with futuristic machines, but as a very human concern. As an engineer in the oil industry, he watched others perform dangerous tasks and found himself asking a simple question: why are humans still doing work that robots could do more safely? Today, he is pursuing a Master’s in robotics and AI at ITMO, where he is developing autonomous systems for environmental monitoring and exploring how robotics can solve real-world problems beyond the lab.
