A group of young scientists from ITMO University have been named among the recipients of the 2019 Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship handed out by the International Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers SPIE. A total of five ITMO University staff made it to the list of winners, securing the university’s first place in terms of the number of awardees. In this interview with ITMO.NEWS, the scientists share about their research and plans for the future.
Every year students and staff of ITMO University are awarded scholarships by the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). This year, five students representing the Terahertz Biomedicine and Metamaterials laboratories became the scholarship competition’s winners. ITMO University, therefore, has won the most spots, coming out ahead of the University of Arizona (four winners) and University of California (four winners).
