The qualifying stage of the I am a Professional contest is in full swing. Participants will be solving tasks in various tracks till the end of the month, December 26. In February, the expert board will announce the name of those who will get the chance to compete for the first prize. How can you prepare for the competition? The university will be in charge of three key tracks: Robotics, Programming and Information Technologies, and Information and Cybersecurity, as well as corporate track Technology Entrepreneurship (jointly with Gazprom Neft). Sberbank will act as the main partner of ITMO’s tracks. The contest is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation as part of the Social Elevators for Everyone initiative of the national project Education.

Universities and development institutions have discussed the latest trends in technological entrepreneurship at the ‘Small Business as a National Project’ forum which took place in Moscow last week. The forum is an annual entrepreneurial gathering organized by ‘OPORA RUSSIA’, a national platform for an effective dialogue between the business community, federal and regional authorities, supervisory boards, and experts. Participants discussed the pressing issues of how to facilitate the development of business skills in school and university students, what knowledge graduates are lacking in from the viewpoint of real economy, and how to upscale successful practices on conducting entrepreneurial education.
The final round of the GenerationS TechNet Track started at ITMO University last Thursday. The best startups will compete for the prize of 1 million rubles. 12 startups from several Russian cities take part in the competition. The final round will last for ten days, and after that the participants will present the results of their work to experts from industry, venture funds and the Innovation Support Fund.
From July 11 to 13, the *SHIP startup-festival was held in Kotka (Finland), attended by participants from more than 20 countries. At the festival, ITMO University’s Business Incubator introduced three startups: Laeneco, Statanly Technologies and Coffee Cycle, which are currently accelerated by Future Technologies’ START program. ITMO.NEWS had a chance to talk with members of the three teams who received praise from European experts and signed preliminary contracts with investors.
