The stipends, which total 20,000 rubles a month for the President's stipend and 30,000 rubles a month for the Government stipend, are intended to motivate students to pursue further research achievements. In total, 690 students from 51 universities in the district were awarded at the ceremony. ITMO University became a record holder – 134 of the university’s students were granted the prestigious stipends.
The awards ceremony was held offline for the first time. Among the invited guests were winners from the district’s top universities: namely, St. Petersburg State University, HSE University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University, St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, and other universities, including art and medical ones. The memorable prizes and statuettes were awarded by Vladimir Vasilyev, the Rector of ITMO University, Natalia Pyatinda, the head of the department for the implementation of public projects at the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, and Andrey Maksimov, the chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Science and Higher Education.
The program “Stipend Holders in Russia: Course for the Future” is organized by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and aimed at supporting talented students across various fields, including IT, biotechnology, energy, and medicine. The awards ceremonies are held within all federal districts of the country.
