Implemented as part of ITMO University’s international Master’s program “Industrial Ecology and Cleaner Production” (headed by associate professor Olga Sergienko) on May 6-10, the intensive workshop on integrated management systems was given by Jana Brauweiler, Martin Sturm and Bernd Delakowitz, professors at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

The workshop’s program was dedicated to the integration of energy management and environmental management systems in the new edition of the standard ISO 14001, which promotes sustainable development and evaluation of environmental risks. The application of the process approach to the analysis of environmental and energy aspects was demonstrated on real-world examples of cases implemented by the professors at a number of manufacturing companies in Germany.

The workshop for students was complemented by a workshop for the teaching staff, which introduced them to the standard ISO 14001:2015 through the cases provided by an eminent certification agency, the German company TÜV. Following the workshop, the lecturers of the international Master’s program “Industrial Ecology and Cleaner Production” have successfully passed an exam that certified them for teaching a course on the ISO 14001:2015 standard in English.

Also discussed as part of the workshop was the development of the international Master’s program in 2019-2020 with the participation of the company TÜV, as well as the promotion of student and staff mobility between the two universities and the advancement of their collaboration in the field of research.
