The RUR system measures the efficiency of universities by 20 individual indicators grouped into 4 areas: Teaching, Research, International Diversity and Financial Sustainability. The RUR has analyzed activities of 750 universities from 76 countries. The agency also compares specific areas of different universities by providing subject rankings.

The ranking includes 16 Russian universities, some nine of them are participants of 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project. Moscow State University has obtained the best result among Russian universities by entering the top-100 per four out of six subject rankings. ITMO University placed 116th at the Teaching Ranking. It also ranked in the top natural-science oriented universities. Thanks to RUR`s rating system, which is allied to Times Higher Education`s, its` results are very objective.

“Both Russian and international experts appreciate Round University Ranking. ITMO University`s high positions in RUR Natural Science and Technical Science rankings as well as high grade of teaching and international diversity proof its` status of leading Russian in international technical university,” said Ekaterina Mikhaylova, head of Strategic Planning and Ranking Research Office of ITMO University.

Several days ago ITMO University was also named Russian second-best technical university according to Top Russian Universities for Engineering and Technology ranking 2015.
