Garage Sail Local

There are few things in life you can truly rely on – and Sevkabel’s Garage Sail is one of them. Held on a smaller scale this time, the sale will feature the crème de la crème of local second-hand and vintage shops, offering everything from clothes and furniture to books and vinyl. The regulars – a DJ set and food carts from local eateries – are, of course, a given.

Organ concert: Through the Centuries

Yet another concert for your week – this time, an organ one held in the compelling atmosphere of a Gothic Revival church. From Bach, with his renowned organ pieces, to contemporary Russian composer Sergei Slonimsky, you will get to admire this musical instrument in all its glory and power.

Exhibition: Why do we have two eyes?

  • Until January 14, Mon, Wed, Sat-Sun: 11 am - 7 pm; Tue, Thu, Fri: 12-9 pm
  • ROSPHOTO
  • 300 rubles (200 rubles for students)

An exhibition with a title fitting for a museum of natural sciences or optics – and perhaps it would have been one if not for the exhibits: stereoscopic photographs from the late 19th-early 20th centuries. Back then, before television and the internet, such images from distant lands were your chance to travel and see the world. Thanks to our binocular vision, looking (through a special device) at two pictures of the same scene captured from slightly different angles, you can get an immersive, nearly 3D experience. At the exhibition, apart from enlarged stereoscope images, you will get to enjoy using a modern makeshift stereoscope to look at pictures of Russian cities and scenes from everyday life in this almost 3D format.

Concert: Mahler’s Symphony No. 5

If you’ve ever tried to purchase a ticket for a Teodor Currentzis-conducted concert, you have likely noticed that they are going fast, no matter the price. This time, you will get to enjoy the show without the commotion – or selling your soul to get a seat. Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 is said to be a transformative piece if performed right, as it surely will be this time. Who knows what truths you will discover as you listen to it?
