The city’s most recognized symbols, its unique character, and captivating charm – all these guide the works of Nikolay Lapshin (1891-1942), Russian and Soviet painter, graphic artist, and teacher. Starting on September 16, KGallery will open its doors to all art enthusiasts wishing to enjoy the art of one of the most prominent masters of the Leningrad landscape school in 1930-1940. Having lived on the embankment of the Moika River, the artist carefully observed and depicted the everyday landscape from his home’s windows and beyond. The exhibition brings together a wide range of his paintings – from depictions of the well-known Winter Canal and New Holland to the ones that have never been on display before.
Pavel Stroganov: Italian Journey

Continuing on the topic of Russia and Soviet art, we’d like to introduce you to Pavel Stroganov (1823-1911), the great-grandson of Alexander Stroganov, one of the most powerful members of the Russian elite in the 18th-19th centuries. Long unknown to history, Pavel’s artworks made a return to his family palace and are now available to the public. Featuring 60 drawings from the artist’s trip across Italy, the exhibition not only presents the breathtaking landscapes of Sorrento and its surroundings but also brings the authorship issue to light.
Glasstress. Window to the Future

If you do have a soft spot for contemporary art, then the Glasstress. Window to the Future exhibition is definitely calling your name! This is one of the largest exhibitions of modern-day art to have happened at the General Staff Building. Organized by the State Hermitage Museum and Berengo Studio, Venice, it showcases over 500 pieces of glass art created by art virtuosos such as Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Jan Fabre, and Hans Op de Beeck. The museum will become a temporary setting for numerous striking masterpieces: miniature sculptures, large-scale installations, huge chandeliers, and even video art.
St. Fields Festival: Prequel

The festival of inventive music, St. Fields, is back in town – with a new lineup! Although the festival can’t run in full swing yet, Sevkabel Port will host a prequel of the long-awaited festival on September 18. The event’s program includes Russian art punk bands, pioneers of computer music, and other sudden non-trivial collaborations.
