Moreover, ITMO secured the top in Chemistry and climbed up three positions in Life Sciences, landing third in both subjects. The university was featured in 11 out of 17 subjects fields and 6 subareas out of 9.
The Expert analytics center has been evaluating publication activity of Russian universities since 2016. Four key criteria make the core of the ranking’s methodology: Quality of Growth, Relevance, Scale, and Superiority. Universities are ranked based on their performance in several subject areas and subareas. This year, the experts introduced a new system to evaluate the concentration of publications in scientific journals, which allows smaller universities to compete with bigger ones in subject rankings with lower inclusion threshold (under 100 publications).
