The new ranking evaluates 87 Russian universities that train specialists in chemistry, chemical technologies, engineering chemistry, and pharmaceutics. It is based on the income of graduates of 2020-2025 who continue working in the field. ITMO ranked fifth among Russian universities and second – among universities in St. Petersburg.
Data for the ranking was taken from SuperJob’s database of over 50 million resumes, as well as other open sources. SuperJob’s analysts considered no less than 70 resumes of graduates of relevant faculties from each university. Included were young professionals with at least a year’s worth of work experience, with no less than half of considered resumes belonging to specialists whose salaries matched their expectations.
At ITMO, chemists are trained within the School of Life Sciences. This year, it is transforming to meet new challenges. First, the school will now include the new Faculty of Chemical & Biological Engineering, which will train engineers of complex chemical and biological systems capable of developing new technologies and integrating them into the industry. The faculty will focus on collaborations with major players in the field, including Gazprom Neft, Sibur, and others. Second, the Faculty of Biotechnologies is also getting an upgrade. Special attention will be given to joint R&D centers with industrial partners, strengthening student competencies in IT and AI, and expanding the list of partners of educational programs and international collaborators.
ITMO regularly occupies the top of another SuperJob ranking – based on the salaries of its IT graduates. In 2026, the university improved its position compared to last year: the average monthly salary of ITMO graduates grew by 3%, reaching 300,000 rubles.
