What makes this year's competition different from its earlier iterations?

This new competition is special because it follows the university’s “code”, and we assess our candidates' knowledge and skills on the basis of the university’s Values (V). These include respect for the individual, integrity, academic freedom, openness, and love.

Fundamental (F) consists of two parts: Classical F (fundamentals of mathematics, physics, engineering and technical sciences; systematic, analytical, critical and creative thinking) and “Augmented” F (digital culture and skills, entrepreneurial culture and skills, design thinking). Professional Skills (PS) are developed through the specific fields of each of ITMO’s Schools, while Soft Skills (SS) include language, management skills, emotional intelligence, and teamwork.

ITMO’s Values, Fundamental, Professional Skills and Soft Skills form the university’s unique “code”: V+F+PS+SS. We want our current and future employees to understand this concept, which will allow us to create a team of like-minded people who share the same values and mission and truly love their job. The main purpose of this competition is to create a strong team of teachers ready to implement new teaching techniques and face modern challenges.

Starting this year, all new ITMO students will attend courses on Digital Culture. In light of these changes, what skills should employees possess if they want to build a successful career at ITMO University?

Digital Culture is included in the “F” section of ITMO Code, which stands for Fundamental, that is the basic skills and competencies that both the university’s students and staff should possess. We want our staff to be familiar with Digital Culture and to understand modern information technologies, their functions, and how to properly apply them in work and everyday life.

What are the advantages of working at ITMO University?

I think the main advantage is the opportunity to work in a team of like-minded people, and also freedom: freedom of creativity and freedom of self-fulfillment.

This year we also launched a new project for teachers called “ITMO.TEACHERS”. The purpose of the project is to give our teachers an opportunity to share their knowledge with each other and discuss new teaching techniques.

How do I apply? What documents are needed?

You can find all the information related to the application process on the competition’s official website (in Russian). To apply, you have to fill in the application form and submit all the necessary documents.

Do people already working at ITMO University have a competitive advantage in being promoted into newly vacated positions?

We ensure equal conditions for all candidates, both ITMO staff and newcomers alike, as long as they fit the requirements that we’ve based on the ITMO Code.

What is the deadline for the application?

The selection process is rather formal. It takes about two months to make a decision. We launched the project on March 31, and candidates have a month to submit their applications. The results will be announced on June 5 at the meeting of ITMO University’s Academic Council.
