New Year Charity Events You Can Participate In
The last week before the New Year is the traditional time for buying gifts. Still, we'd like to divert your attention from the pre-holiday fuss and offer you to participate in several charity events that really need help.
1. Gifts for lonely elderly people
The Gifting Smiles volunteer group gathers presents for lonely seniors. In order to participate, you have to gather a parcel with gifts such as blankets, scarves, Christmas ornaments or anything else; you can check the full list of proposed presents here.
Then, you pass the parcel to any of the volunteers from the Gifting Smiles group stationed at various subway stations (check the list here), who will deliver it.
2. Blood donation
The blood donation center of the First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg looks for donors for patients of the Raisa Gorbacheva Memorial Institute of Children Hematology and Transplantation. This is the only clinic in Russia that performs bone marrow transplantation.
The center is located at 19-53 Lev Tolstoy Street, not far from the Petrogradskaya subway station. Don't forget to bring your passport!
The event lasts till December 28.
3. Sun on the fir tree
The Sun charity foundation helps the disadvantaged children of St. Petersburg. Every year, it conducts a New Year event for gathering gifts and donations. The list of proposed gifts includes sweets, educational games, hats, books, and so on.
You can bring the presents to the foundation's office at 1-3 Dumskaya Street, 6th floor.
The program ends on January 25.
