The final shortlist of ten best-of-the-bests includes an ITMO University graduate, founder of the Motorica company Ilya Chekh, while the top-100 touts Artur Gleim, CEO of ITMO’s small innovative enterprise “Quantum Communications”.

  • Head of RN-Burenie Oil Company’s IT Department: Every Bit of Fundamental Knowledge I Have, I Learned at University

    In the early 2000s, Alexander Shevtsov enrolled at ITMO University’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty. In his third year, he paired up with a fellow student to start his first business; after his graduation, he developed projects in telecommunications; today, he is the head of the IT department at RN-Burenie, one of Rosneft’s key subsidiaries.     Evgeniy Moiseev graduated from ITMO University three years ago; today, he works at the Krasnogorsky Factory, one of Russia’s top optics manufacturers and a part of the Rostec state corporation, where he designs and creates optical devices for use in space exploration, photography and medicine.   • St. Petersburg, Amsterdam, Singapore: ITMO Graduate on Improving City Infrastructure

    ITMO University graduate Valentin Melnikov got into high-performance computing during his Master’s program run by ITMO in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam. He started his research with the question of how power cuts influence the traffic situation in Amsterdam. Thanks to ITMO University’s partnership with the University of Amsterdam, the graduate was invited to the Nanyang Technological University to work in the laboratory headed by Professor Peter Sloot who teaches at all three aforementioned universities. While in Singapore, Valentin is developing an infrastructure model which would help create a comfortable urban space in extremely hot and humid climate conditions. ITMO.NEWS met the graduate to talk about his research.
