Student and Staff: Sofia Antipova Gets the Best of Both Worlds
In addition to 1,300+ lecturers and professors, ITMO University has more than 3,500 members of administrative staff. They organize classes, provide the university with scientific and office equipment, create digital spaces like ISU and physical spaces like the coworking areas, run the libraries, deal with endless paperwork, and much more. And amongst them are our very own students! Meet one of them: Sofia Antipova, a third-year Bachelor’s student, ecologist, and ITMO staff member.

ITMO.OPEN: Educational Practices – Results of the Conference
On May 24-25, ITMO University hosted a conference for lecturers and representatives of other universities during which the university’s staff shared their experience of building an innovative educational ecosystem and their colleagues – the best practices in that field. The participants discussed how to attract and hold students’ full attention, make work and studies truly convenient for everyone, employ gamification and personification in education, and work with rating agencies.

Latvian Student on the Challenges of Distance Learning and Closed Borders

ITMO’s National Center for Cognitive Research has launched a slate of continuing professional education programs. These courses will help economists, managers and lawyers learn more about big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. IT specialists, in turn, will have the chance to study marketing, law, or public relations.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s prize “For Commitment to Science” recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the promotion of scientific knowledge. The award is open to journalists and media specialists, as well as students, science communicators, museum staff, exhibition curators, and other public figures.

Out of 40 applications, 10 were selected to present in front of experts.
