Flu Vaccine and Lung Cancer Medication Developed by ITMO Technopark’s Resident Awarded Gold Medals at the iENA 2019 Exhibition in Germany
The company ATG Service Gene, a resident of ITMO University’s Technopark, was awarded two gold medals at the international exhibition of ideas, inventions and innovations iENA 2019 that recently concluded in the German city of Nuremberg. Recognized were two inventions by the St. Petersburg scientists – an innovative flu vaccine and a medication that can help in combating lung cancer. ITMO.NEWS spoke to the company’s Director for Science Ilya Dukhovlinov to find out more about the award-winning drugs.

Yagodnoe in Miniature: About the Six-Meter Layout of ITMO’s Sports and Recreation Center
This year, the Yagodnoe sports and recreation center celebrates its 60th anniversary. Over the years, the camp has brought together thousands of students and graduates and is now a platform for various international and city projects. Visit the Yagodnoe museum to see how the center has developed over time, as well as learn about the most significant events in its history. The museum has recently been replenished with a large exhibit, a six-square-meter interactive layout of the camp. Lake Berestovoye, the pier, pine forests, wooden houses, and sports infrastructure – the authors of the project managed to reconstruct the camp in great detail. ITMO Technopark Resident’s Software to Help Monitor Condition of Water in Uruguay
At the end of October, the company Airalab, a resident of ITMO University’s Technopark, presented its Internet of Things (IoT) solutions at one of the largest exhibitions in the field, IoT Solutions World Congress, this year hosted in Barcelona, Spain. Among other things, the event allowed them to sign a contract with a Uruguayan company for the supply of software that enables getting real-time updates on environmental monitoring. ITMO.NEWS met one of the company’s founders, associate professor at ITMO’s Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics Alexander Kapitonov to find out what countries also expressed interest in the company’s developments.

Science and Art Come Together at the “New Anthropology” Exposition

ITMO at International Agricultural Exhibition AGRORUS

Historian Sergey Kuznetsov on the Stroganovs, Their Connection to ITMO, and History of Entrepreneurship in Russia
Recently, an exhibition called “A Forgotten Russian Patron. The Collection of Count Pavel Sergeevich Stroganov” has opened at the State Hermitage Museum. It features paintings, sculptures, photographs and other exhibits collected by the scion of the dynasty. One of the most influential aristocratic families in Russia, the Stroganovs were veritable pioneers and innovators in the field of technologies and education. One of ITMO University’s campuses (that on Tchaikovsky St.) is based on the dynasty’s former ancestral home. ITMO.NEWS sat down with Sergey Kuznetsov, a historian and staff member at the Russian Museum and leading researcher of the Stroganov family, to talk about the exhibition and the university’s participation in the preservation of the dynasty’s vast collections.

Magic of Light Exhibition in Shanghai: The Dazzling Results
The interactive exhibition of holographic installations Magic of Light, organized by ITMO University together with the Hellenic Institute of Holography, has recently come to an end. The exhibition was hosted on 1,000 square meters of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and featured over 150 items, including ultra-realistic full-color holograms and optoclones from the collections of the Hermitage, the Fabergé Museum, and the Diamond Fund. In the course of four months, some 300,000 people attended the exhibition.
