• ITMO To Develop New Russian System for Training AI Specialists

  ITMO’s Research Center “Strong AI in Industry” has won the competition held by the Analytics Center of the Government of Russia. Now, the ITMO department is about to develop role-based competency models that will help objectively evaluate an AI specialist’s training, as well as advance the competencies of lecturers. An additional focus will be the development of educational programs in AI. The initiative received 25 million rubles in funding.

• Newest From ITMO: Software To Facilitate Regenerative Medicine Materials Development

  ITMO scientists have come up with software that helps automatically analyze cell structure in a substance’s image: it detects the borders of each cell and its nucleus in the image and then identifies the patterns in its shape, area, location, and other features. The resulting data can be used to quickly and more efficiently model materials for regenerative medicine, such as implants and healing band-aids. The results of the study have been published in Advanced Intelligent Discovery.

• ITMO Alumna Olga Osmak Among St. Petersburg’s Top Graduates of 2025

  On June 25, an annual awards ceremony was held at the Peter and Paul Fortress to honor the top graduates of St. Petersburg universities. 60 talented students received the Bronze Sphinx statuettes – a symbol of wisdom, intelligence, and perseverance. Among this year’s awardees was Olga Osmak, a Master’s graduate of ITMO’s Infochemistry Scientific Center.

• Applicants Can Now Evaluate Their Enrollment Chances With USE Points Calculator by ITMO

  In 2025, Russian students can apply to five universities, opting for up to five specializations in each of them. With so many options, it’s hard to keep track of all the enrollment factors, including personal achievements and, primarily, Unified State Exam (USE) scores. One popular solution to this are various USE points calculators that can compute the total score of a student and use it to recommend programs they can apply for. ITMO University has now come out with a calculator of its own. Read on to learn how it works.
