• ITMO Students Receive 2.5 Million Rubles Grant for University Development

  On November 27-29, the Sirius Park of Science and Art hosted the final round of the Tvoy Hod (“Your Move” – Ed.) competition.  ITMO University received a 2.5 million rubles grant for having the greatest number of participants who made it to the finals. ITMO.NEWS talked to the finalists to learn more about their projects.

• ITMO Researchers Ramp Up X-Ray Laser Research Into Nano- and Biomaterials

  In 2019, a Russian federal program for the development of synchrotron and neutron-focused research was launched. The program will go on until 2027; in that time, new megascience-class projects, such as X-ray lasers, synchrotrons, and neutron generators, are expected to be launched. As part of the program, in 2021 the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education announced a contest for research and specialist training. A team of scientists from ITMO University participated in the contest and won with a project on X-ray laser technologies in nano- and biomaterials science.

• ITMO University Receives Grant to Fund AI Research Center

  ITMO University’s AI Research Center “Strong AI in Industry” became one of the grant winners in the contest held as part of the federal Artificial Intelligence project. The selection process was conducted by experts of the Analytical Center for the Government of the Russian Federation. The research center will be granted more than 1 billion rubles.

  ITMO University became one of the top three leading universities according to the results of the annual Potanin Foundation Scholarship Contest. The competition brought together a total of 75 Russian universities.

  Ekaterina Noskova, an employee at ITMO’s Laboratory of Genomic Diversity and International Laboratory for Computer Technologies, received a grant from the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and Philip Morris International.
