  • ITMO Among Top 5 in Quality of Bachelor’s Admissions Among Russian Universities

    According to the latest admissions review, ITMO University is ranked among the top 5 universities in Russia that demonstrated great performances in terms of the overall quality of their admissions campaigns. The average Unified State Exam (USE) score among ITMO’s first-year students in 2021 has increased compared to previous figures and now reaches 93.7.

  • ITMO Student Chosen as St. Petersburg Representative on Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s Student Council

    In the spring of 2021, the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education expressed its support for the establishment of an official body that would be tasked with representing the opinions of students. In December, applicants from among the number of heads of student organizations were selected for the new Student Council. As a result, 82 students were chosen, each representing a federal subject. St. Petersburg is represented by Denis Ovesnov, a student of ITMO University’s School of Translational Information Technologies.

  • Congress of Young Scientists Day 1: School of Russian Science Foundation, Art & Science, and Student Laboratories

    December 8 marked the start of the National Congress of Young Scientists – one of the closing events of the Russian Year of Science and Technology – in the Sirius Park of Science and Art, Sochi. More than 3,000 attended the congress on the first day. Among the participants are representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), universities and research laboratories, leading IT and tech companies, as well as aspiring scientists and school students. Researchers and experts from ITMO University got a chance to share their experiences and moderate several discussions. Here are the highlights of the event’s first day.

  • ITMO Launches Two New Labs for Young Researchers

    As a result of a contest held as part of the Science and Universities national project by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, six new AI-focused laboratories are to open in St. Petersburg. Two of them have already launched at ITMO University – read on to learn about the way composite AI and intelligent technologies for infochemistry will be studied at ITMO.

  • Priority 2030 National Program: ITMO Team Presents its 2030 Development Strategy Within Research Leadership Track

    Starting on October 1, Russian universities started to defend their development strategies within the research leadership track of the Priority 2030 National Program. The authors of the most innovative ideas will receive a special grant of up to 1 billion rubles, which can be used to facilitate the implementation of advanced research and the creation of high-tech products and technologies, as well as strengthen the university’s human capacity in research and development.

    The selection process for the Priority 2030 national program came to end on September 26. Based on the results of the selection, ITMO University was named among the top Russian universities that will receive a grant of 100 million rubles.
