    What is Business Model Canvas and how can it help startupers in forming and developing their business ideas in the shortest amount of time possible? This was the focus of an intensive workshop recently hosted by ITMO University, the participants of which included over 20 students from Russia and Finland. The workshop was delivered by experts from Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), who also shared about other tools for management of business processes and the difference in business approaches in Russia and Finland.

  • BizCycle: Moving Towards Comfortable Biking Infrastructure on Russian-Finnish Border

    How to create a bike-friendly environment in the border regions of Russia and Finland, help cycling tourists effectively plan their itineraries, and foster the development of local businesses that would cater for such travelers? These are some of the questions in the center of the BizCycle international project. Having kicked off in November this year, it is now being implemented as part of the South-East Finland – Russia Cross-Border Cooperation program, with ITMO as the leading partner. The university’s specialists will work on the project together with representatives of Finnish companies, the Committee for Tourism of the Leningrad Oblast, and the Tourism Information Center. The objectives and stages of BizCycle’s implementation were recently discussed at a briefing organized for St. Petersburg’s cycling community. ITMO.NEWS reports on the keynotes of the meeting.

  • Twin Campus: New Joint Project by ITMO and XAMK

    ITMO University and South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) have received approval for their Twin campus joint project. The initiative’s key result will be creating a Russian-Finnish platform for modernization and internationalization of small and medium entrepreneurship that will simultaneously operate in St. Petersburg, at ITMO’s new Highpark, and in Kotka, on the base of the new XAMK campus. The project gives Russian technological companies an opportunity to enter international markets, as well as to promote technologies developed at ITMO University.

  • Russian and Finnish Students Learn About Business Together with FIRST+

    30 students from Finland and Russia are currently attending the “Project-Based Approach to Business Canvas Model” intensive program in St. Petersburg. They learn about the use of business process engineering tools and work on cases of major companies like Valio, SOK and Bonava. ITMO University was chosen as one of the program’s main venues. The week-long course was made possible thanks to collaboration between ITMO University and the Tampere University of Applied Science, and a grant from the FIRST+ program, which promotes collaboration and partnership between universities of Russia and Finland.
