Teaching 3D Tech to School Kids in Moscow
Caliber, the technopark for teenagers aged 14-17, is running for the fifth time in Moscow. Here, young enthusiasts learn about 3D modeling technologies, motion capture, and virtual, augmented and mixed realities. In cooperation with Caliber, the Department of Engineering and Computer Graphics at ITMO University has developed unique courses with the participation of a special virtual guide, and has also become a partner of the technopark in order to help train high school students.

ITMO Hosts CROPS 2017: Chinese-Russian Optics & Photonics Symposium for Young Scientists
From November 27 to December 6, ITMO University hosted CROPS 2017 - a Chinese-Russian symposium for young scientists in the field of optics and photonics. The event gathered 76 researchers from both countries.The Chinese side was represented by scientists from Changchun University of Science and Technology, Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (SIBET) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Huazong University of Science and Technology, and Nankai University. Amongst the Russian participants were representatives of Orel State University, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University, Crimean Federal University, Saratov State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University and ITMO University, as well as research fellows from the Federal Almazov North-West Medical Research Center.

Scientists Form New Road Map for Photonics and Quantum Communications Development
Participants of the international roundtable discussion, which was held as part of the METANANO-2017 Conference in Vladivostok, discussed the future of research in photonics and quantum communications in Russia and outlined the goals for scientific collaborations with other BRICS countries. Representatives of various scientific organizations discussed the next steps that need to be undertaken by researchers and the Russian Ministry of Education and Science to make Russia a leader in photonic technologies research.

ITMO and NTU to Collaborate on Academic Mobility Programs
ITMO University was recently visited by a delegation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The main topic of the conversation between the two universities was the development of academic mobility programs. As of today, ITMO and NTU are already working together on research in predictive modeling and translational technology. In near future, the partners intend to strengthen their partnership in the area of student mobility.

ITMO and South Korea Launch SumIT Startup School
On July 31, ITMO University’s business incubator launched the International SumIT Summer School. This year the acceleration program will welcome young entrepreneurs from South Korea. Three startups, each supervised by a Russian mentor, will work and study here for two weeks. ITMO's Institute of Cyber Technologies for Financial Systems Signs Collaboration Agreement With Otkritie Bank
As part of the new collaboration, the bank's staff members will take part in training the students who've enrolled on ITMO's two new Master's programs - Mathematical Support and Software for Global Financial Systems and Big Data in Financial Technologies, and will also provide the university’s Master's students and lecturers with the opportunity to work on real business tasks in the field of financial technologies and banking.

University of Amsterdam Renews Partnership Agreement with ITMO
ITMO University and the University of Amsterdam (UvA) have continued their long-time tradition of cooperation and extended their partnership agreement for another five years. The document noting the two universities’ collaboration was signed by ITMO’s Rector Vladimir Vasilyev and President of the UvA’s Executive Board Geert ten Dam. The partner universities will not only continue working on their collaborative projects, but plan to strengthen their cooperation in regards to training postgraduate students on a shared educational program.

ITMO-UCLA Partner Program Graduates Showcase Projects

ITMO University Expands Partnership in Technology Entrepreneurship with Krasnoyarsk Krai
Yesterday, on May 31, ITMO University was visited by a delegation headed by Viktor Tolokonsky, governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai. During a meeting with the university’s Rector Vladimir Vasilyev, the parties agreed to the creation of collaborative projects in the field of technology entrepreneurship aimed at systematic development of innovation infrastructure in the region. In June, ITMO University and the Krai administration plan to develop a roadmap for their future relationship.
