  • Finding Nanoparticles: ITMO Scientists Propose New Method for Discovering Nanomaterials With Desired Properties

    Researchers from ITMO’s ChemBio Cluster have devised an algorithm that can automatically detect the properties of nanoparticles, including their size, shape, and surface structure, based on their images and even sketches and find similar particles in its database. The novel system also works the other way around by informing users how to produce substances with the desired properties.   • Machine Learning and Geological Faults: ITMO Students Take Part in a School by Gazprom Neft

    This spring, the Sirius educational center in Sochi held a school in Infocommunication Technologies Application in the Oil and Gas Industry. At the school organized by the Gazprom Neft Science & Technology Center students learned how machine learning can be used in the mining of mineral resources and created team projects on the topic. First-year students of ITMO’s Master’s program in Big Data and Machine Learning were among the participants of the school.

  • ITMO Researchers Create an Algorithm To Help Reduce the Risk of Complications in Cardiovascular Diseases

    The machine-learning-based algorithm is developed by ITMO’s National Center for Cognitive Research. By analyzing data on patients’ well-being and lifestyle, the program will help physicians make timely decisions on prescribing treatment, drugs, or surgery.   • ITMO’s Andrey Filchenkov: How To Train Neural Networks To Identify Debtors Based on Their Expenses

    Researchers at ITMO’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty created a model that can tell responsible loaners from those who don’t pay back their bank loans by the spending pattern. The algorithm can also serve as the basis for a system that would notify credit card users about their risky behaviour.
