    According to the latest ranking of Russian universities based on the salaries earned by graduates in the IT industry, conducted by the research center SuperJob, the average salary of ITMO graduates working in IT has grown by 11% since last year. In 2024, an IT graduate’s average salary equals 260,000 rubles per month, making it the highest among graduates of St. Petersburg universities and second-highest in Russia.

    Education officials, authorities, athletes, experts in medicine, rehabilitation, and phygital environments, as well as AR/VR developers met for a strategy session to discuss the construction of a phygital sports complex at ITMO Highpark. The facility, which will be a part of the to-be techno valley, will include an esports arena, a concert and exhibition venue, and a rehabilitation center for people with disabilities. The initiative will be funded by private entrepreneurs.

  • New by ITMO Scientists: Digital Service to Facilitate Artificial Enzymes for Industry and Medicine

    Researchers from ITMO University have developed a web platform that is capable of predicting a nanozyme’s (artificial enzyme) capability to accelerate chemical reactions – with high accuracy and in mere seconds. Apart from being free, the platform is user-friendly, as it’s equipped with a ChatGPT-based assistant. Among its applications is the development of new cancer treatments and sensors of hazardous materials. The platform was described in a paper published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters.

  • Record-Breaking: Tiny Nanolasers for Ultracompact Chips Developed at ITMO

    Physicists at ITMO University have broken their own record for the world’s smallest nanolaser: they were able to decrease the nanoparticle’s size from 310 nanometers to 200 (which is 5,000 times smaller than a millimeter!). The new laser functions at room temperature, while the green light it radiates can be seen through a standard optical microscope. The solution can be applied in the development of fine parts for digital microdevices and wellness trackers, as well as in VR headsets: there, the nanolaser will be able to improve the quality of color rendering.
