  • MSU Student on Working in Different Laboratories and Doing Internship at ITMO

    Alexander Chezhegov, a third-year student at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Physics, took part in the “I am a Professional” competition and the “It’s Your Call!” Winter School that was held at ITMO University last winter. His project focused on creating a hydrophobic coating for solar cells. In July 2018, he did an internship at ITMO’s International Research Center of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials, where he studied hybrid states of light in low-dimensional quantum materials. In his interview with ITMO.NEWS, he shared his experience of working in different research groups.

  • Computer Science And The World Football Cup: ESIEE Students on Their Internship at ITMO

    What do thousands of Twitter users think about the recent FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia? How did it affect the traffic situation in the city? What are the ways to effectively manage data in virtual reality? Six students from ESIEE Paris, one of France’s leading educational establishments, worked on these and similar projects during their three-month internship at ITMO’s School of Translational Information Technologies.   • Interning in New York, Working in Berlin: ITMO Graduate Victoria Gorelkina On Her International Experience

    Victoria Gorelkina graduated from ITMO University in 2015. After going on an exchange semester in Switzerland as part of her Master’s studies, Victoria decided that she would like to continue her education abroad, consequently enrolling in a Master’s program in Germany. Today, Victoria is a lighting designer at a German company. ITMO.NEWS met her to talk about education mobility, dream jobs, and the importance of learning languages.

  • ITMO Students Study Monodzukuri at Kindai University

    ITMO University continues to establish academic cooperation with one of Japan’s largest universities, the Kindai University. This partnership is made possible by support from Monodzukuri, the Japanese government's project that encourages  exchange  of experience and the training of professionals in high-tech and natural sciences fields for the Russian-Japanese business. As part of this program, ITMO students Andrei Palshin and Ivan Bereznoy, as well as head of the Mechatronics Department Sergey Kolyubin spent two weeks on an introductory internship in Kindai University.

  • ITMO Student on Using IT to Help People With Dementia

    How can we help people with dementia communicate with their family members, memorize things, and live a normal life? A Horizon 2020 program that brings together scientists, psychologists and medical specialists from Great Britain, Germany, and Spain aims to solve this problem. Daniil Razdyakonov, a  PhD student at ITMO University and member of its Technopark’s resident, the VISmart company, is also participating in this project. In an interview for ITMO.NEWS, he spoke about how programmers help medical specialists and psychologists solve social problems.

  • ITMO and University of Bologna Cooperate in Science and Education

    How is recycling organized in Italy, what is transition engineering all about, and how can its principles be applied to the operation of Russian companies in order to form a really effective recycling management system? Anastasia Pavlova, senior lecturer at the Department of Industrial Ecology and Safety, is working on a project that manages raw materials and wastes from the food industry, which answers these questions. She recently won an Italian government grant and has gone to the University of Bologna - the country's second largest university and the oldest educational establishment in Europe. In the course of her internship, not only does Anastasia plan to study Italian practices, but also enhance cooperation with Italian universities.
