Five Continents – One Tournament: BRICS+ CTF Finals Held at ITMO University
Five continents, 105 countries, and 1,257 teams – Russia has recently hosted the online cybersecurity competition BRICS+ CTF. The final round of the contest, co-organized by ITMO University, took place on November 16 and welcomed 20 teams from eight countries. The team Friendly Maltese Citizens (international) finished first, followed by NE_SPRUSH (Russia) and Bushwhackers (Russia).

ITMO Opens Lab to Train AI Infosecurity Experts
Over last year alone, the demand for information security experts in AI grew by 30%. In parallel to this growing demand, there is also a lack of professionals with the necessary qualifications for this field on the market. One of the reasons for it is that no one trains such specialists. In response to that, ITMO and the company Raft launched a research laboratory called LLM Security Lab that is meant to teach students to work in the field of infosec for LLM and AI business solutions.

The team ITMO))) won the national information security cyberdrills OpenBonch 2022. Students from the Faculty of Secure Information Technologies were first to solve the task and earned 89/100 points, setting the competition’s record.
